it's tidier !

hello.

so this is my new blog, cheesecanfly ! my previous blog little-tyrant.blogspot.com is officially abandoned, aww. so i've been wanting to work on a new blog since a long time ago but i just didn't have the time as i was having my National Service at Kem Sembrong for the past three months, yeap, okay so the point of this very first post is to share my PLKN life experience in Kem Sembrong, Batu Pahat. I know that many of you guys out there who was chosen are anxious, nervous, and have no idea what to bring or prepare for this once in a lifetime experience, so i'm going to share some tips for you because i know that OMG feeling, trust me. When i received the TAHNIAH message, i was anxious and excited at the same time. Anxious, because i didn't know what exactly to expect in the camp, and i have no idea what to bring so i googled but there was only a few blogs that gave me some tips and reminders. Excited, because i, myself hope that i was chosen, i wanted to gain new experience, i wanted more friends, and i wanted to be brave. So i thought maybe through this blog, if you find this blog that is , you guys, the chosen one, will more or less benefit from it and get an idea or get the picture of what PLKN is all about. this will be a long one, and there will be loads of photos, enjoy =)

FYI : this is dedicated to the chosen ones, specially for you guys. But non-plkn-ers, feel free to read.

So, the first thing that popped into my mind when i received the letter, was ,
'' shit, what stuffs do i bring to PLKN ''
Here's a list of things that you must, should bring.

  • Toiletries which includes Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Shampoo, Body Shampoo, Facial Foam.
  • Face toner for girls since boys are not particular about things like that
(highly recommended, your face is going to be, so, dehydrated )
  • Shaver for both genders.
  • Bucket or Pail.
  • Brush
  • Washing powder or liquid.
  • Soap ? up to you
  • container or a small bag to put your toiletries.
  • Towels.
  • comb
  • Slippers.
  • Padlocks ( lock your locker at all times in case of burglary, there were only a few cases in my kem )
  • stationary ( scissors, staplers, markers, steel rulers will be confiscated )
  • hangers ( 7 at least , no steel hangers though )
  • Oilment, panadols, cough mixture etc. ( you can bring those but most probably they are going to be confiscated , unless you hide it well. you can use them though, after you are given permission. )
  • nail clipper without the steel thingy to sharpen your nails ( sorry, i have no idea what that's called )
  • food, cup noodles, drinks, tidbits, sweets etc etc. ( my kem's koperasi is pretty cool, they have loads of tidbits, chips, wangwang, ice cream, all sorts of drinks, sweets, pop corns, keropok, tamtam etc etc )
  • mirror ( they will confiscate them too, no worries, there will be two large mirros in each dorms, and there are plenty in the washroom )

*all of the stuffs stated above can be bought at your Kem's Koperasi. so don't worry if you missed or left out anything

  • clothing. ( recommend 5 t-shirts and 3 pants, shorts, trackbottoms )
  • these clothes can be worn when you are in your dorm. when you are out of your dorm, you'll have to wear your PT SHIRT. Unless your jurulatih-in-charge gave you permission to wear BEBAS.
  • socks ?
  • sport shoes ( up to you, because you will be given a pair of black sport shoes, they are nice to wear i like them )
  • Sunblock ( MUST )
  • Phone Charger.
  • Handphone ( you dont have to bring some lousy phone, bring some good ones, to capture the fun moments , the jurulatih wont steal your phone, seriously, PLKN isnt as bad as you think. but becareful, there are alot of stealing cases at the last week of kem. there are, still alot of idiotic ppl )
  • MP3 ( they wont confiscate it, i wonder why . you can listen to it anytime , but not during class or activities, you can use it when you're eating, or during Kerohanian, Free and leisure time , etc )
  • Guitars, musical instruments.
  • Traditional Clothes ( highly recomment to bring your own ones, you will wear them pretty often , it was very fun seeing all sorts of baju-baju , of course you can pinjam from your friends )
  • Books, novels.
  • notebook
  • pendrive ( our Tuan TKL copied alot of photos and videos to our pendrive )
  • flashlight ( in the woods , or in case of any black outs in your dorm )
  • Alarm clock ( up to you, because the Muslims will wake up very early around 4.30, , and they'll on all the lights and you'll wake up eventually, gotta thank them though ! they really trained us. thanks guys )
  • A very big luggage to put all those stuffs in, and at the end of the kem, you have to bring back those PLKN issud stuffs. there will be ALOT, so dont hesitate to bring a BIG one. I know some of you guys would be like,'' huh, so big, so weird, so embarassing,so kiasu, kiasi etc '' NO, you will see gigantic luggages there. you'll really need it.

okay that's about it, i guess. hope i didnt left out anything.

so let's continue to the Banned Items.

  • Jewellery
  • Non-Halal stuffs
  • sleeveless shirts
  • clothing that are menjolok mata. ( no belly-button-seeing sarree, and short Cheongsam )
  • Sharp Objects
  • Pornographic stuffs
  • Lighter
  • Cigarettes ( ala, boys will surely bring those, and sell them to their friends, just be careful not to get caught, they often have spot-check in the dorms, especially the boys', hiding it in the ceiling does not work. you can hide in in the mattress, cut a hole, and stuff it in. there are plenty of ways, leave a message if you wanna know how to hide it well. the boys taught it to me. haha. )
  • Liquor

  2. Seriously out of all the PLKN testimonies I've read on the net, yours is definitely the best and the paling syiokest one XD . Can I ask you something? What really stands for the shirt you guys call PT shirt??? I was wondering.. And do you guys really get sunburned from all that outdoors activity? Is there a curfew, like, for instance, you all have to be in bed before idk 9 or 10 pm? And you said to bring all the baldi and detergent so does that mean you guys don't have washing machines there? If you're chosen, can you bring one?(jk..) do you guys have a shower limit, like 10 to 15 mins??mai gawwd i have sooo much questions imma stop right here

  3. thanks for reading Anonymous ! have you read the whole experience other than 'what to bbring' ? if you havent, you should totoally go read it ! although is damn long. http://cheesecanfly.blogspot.com/2013/04/plkn-program-latihan-khidmat-negara.html
the PT shirt is the one which i am wearing, i have description below the photo, you can scroll and see. sunburned ? girls wont, because we always wear longs sleeves during activities, boys maybe ? but we are definitely gonna become a charcoal. curfew huh , nope, they 'said' that we have to turn off lights at 11pm but due to 'ghosts incident' we can leave it on. and yes, we dont have washing machines, we are the human washing machine ! haha, i hope you are chosen, it will be funnn. oh there is no shower limit ! it's normally during your one hour break, or if you are a non-muslim, you have break time from 6pm to 8pm/9pm because during that time the muslims will have their Agama session ;)

  7. I know it's late, but i want to ask. Some blogs I've read say that only jeans are allowed in the camps? While others say only track bottoms, and you'll be wearing track bottoms most of the time. It's kinda confusing... Also, if we're wearing track bottom all day, were you being serious when you said that the track bottom is "very comfy", or was that sarcasm? Because I may want to bring my own if we really have to use them so much. Is it the double-layer kind? The blogs I've been checking out all seem to be contradicting each other, so confused.....
